Optimize & Repair

Compress, optimize, and repair PDF files

Use the optimize and repair hub when the problem is file size, loading behavior, printability, scanner cleanup, or a broken PDF rather than page content.

Best for

  • Reducing PDF size for portals, email limits, or faster loading.
  • Repairing damaged PDFs and cleaning files that refuse to open properly.
  • Flattening, sanitizing, deskewing, or linearizing PDFs before delivery.

How to choose

  • Use Compress PDF when size is the main problem.
  • Use Repair PDF before other tools if the source file fails to open or process.
  • Use Sanitize, Flatten, or Linearize when the issue is hidden data, viewer behavior, or delivery performance.

Quality checks

  • Compare the original and optimized file before deleting either copy.
  • Inspect small text, scans, signatures, and diagrams after compression or cleanup.
  • Retry from the original file if repair or optimization produces a partial result.

Privacy notes

  • Compression and repair do not automatically redact visible sensitive details.
  • Sanitizing and metadata cleanup should be verified in a PDF viewer before external sharing.
